Download speed and transfer time

Convert transfer speeds, time a file at that speed, and compare a live download with common network rates.

The download check uses a 2 MB file from Cloudflare. It is not a certified speed test. The memory copy is not your disk.

Convert a transfer speed, then see how long a file of a given size would take. A live check downloads 2 MB from Cloudflare and compares that result with common network rates. It is a tab test, not a certified speed test, and the copy stays in memory rather than on disk.

  1. 1Enter a speed and a file size.
  2. 2Read how long the transfer would take.
  3. 3Measure this connection if you want a live number.

The download check times a file from Cloudflare. It is this connection, not a lab test. The memory check copies data inside the tab. It is not your disk speed.

At 100 Mbit/s, that file takes 1.33 minutes.

Questions

What does the measure button do?
It times a download and copies a block of memory in this tab.
Is the browser estimate the same thing?
No. Some browsers report a rounded downlink. That line is separate from the timed download.
Nothing is uploaded. Closing the tab drops the file.
The test file is downloaded only to time it. It is not saved.
